DISCIPLESHIP PROGRAMS



MINISTRY VOLUNTEER



Candidates in this Ministry Volunteer position gain valuable Christian ministry experience, developing self-awareness and skills for working collaboratively with others. They are typically still completing their tertiary education.



MINISTRY INTERN



Candidates in this Ministry Intern position gain exposure to Christian pastoral or missionary ministry experience in various fields and are encouraged to explore and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead them to the next phase of commitment in ministry work or theological training.



THEOLOGICAL STUDENT MINISTER



Candidates in this Theological Student Minister position enter a structured ministry internship program while undertaking their formal theological training at a recognised theological seminary. The goal of the program is to prepare them and help identify a career path in Christian ministry after graduation.



PASTORAL STAFF | MISSIONARY



Candidates in this Pastoral Staff / Missionary position begin formal full-time Christian ministry work after obtaining a theological degree. The ministry may include student campus ministry, serving as a pastor of a church, counselling, or missionary work.

Lyla



Theological Student Minister





Lyla is a Master of Accounting graduate from The University of Sydney, is set to begin her theology studies in 2025. With a heart for serving families, international students, and children’s ministry, she is also preparing to pursue counseling to provide meaningful support to these communities.

Albert



Theological Student Minister





Albert is currently studying a Master of Divinity at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC), where he is being equipped for gospel ministry. He is passionate about following where God leads and helping others grow into who God has created them to be.


Before studying at SMBC, Albert graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering. He worked as a change consultant in the tech sector, and later as a product manager in a fintech startup. He’s keen to serve God wherever He leads.



Esther



Theological Student Minister





Esther graduated from The University of Sydney, completed a year of full-time MTS ministry training, and worked as accountant and treasurer for four years. Currently, she is studying theology at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC) and serving as a Theological Student Minister at Living Spring Christian Church in Chatswood.








Cherry



Theological Student Minister





Cherry is a Theological Student Minister and a bivocational servant of God, balancing part-time ministry at MBS with her work as a sonographer. Currently midway through her Master of Divinity at SMBC, she is in a season of deepening her understanding of theology and ministry while serving the next generation, including students and children. Passionate about sharing the holistic gospel with international students from China, she is committed to discipling them in an uncompromised, Christ-centered life—one that reflects God’s image, dies to self, and lives fully for Him.



Dala



Theological Student Minister





Dala is a Master of Commerce graduate from The University of Sydney and is set to begin full-time ministry in 2025 while pursuing part-time theological studies in CTCA. Passionate about serving international students through campus society, such as MBS and Power to Change at USYD, she is equipping herself to better serve the Chinese communities in the future.

Tony



Ministry Intern





Tony is a Bachelor of Medical Science graduate from USyd and is undertaking a ministry traineeship in 2025. While studying, he served in four different Christian student societies, which drew him deeper into his love for God and His ministry. As part of his traineeship, Tony is working with Pastor Jason Cheng to build the international community at St Barnabas Anglican Church, equipping himself to better serve local church ministries in the future.

ALUMNI



Jairus



Pastor





Jairus is married to Priscilla. He joined Minto Anglican Church as Mandarin Minister in 2022 and will transition to St George's Hurstville Anglican Church as Mandarin Pastor in 2025. Jairus completed his master’s degree at The University of Sydney in Commerce and has a Diploma of Theology from Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC). He did Ministry Apprenticeship with Australia Fellowship Evangelical Student (AFES) at The University of Sydney serving alongside the international students. He loves to see people come to faith in Jesus and Christ’s community sharing the love of God with the people around them.




Aidan



Pastor





Aidan moved to Sydney in 2012 to study at The University of Sydney. Through his time in Sydney he grew in his faith in Jesus while discipling international students at St Barnabas Anglican Church. Aidan completed his Masters of Divinity at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC) in 2022 and is eager to serve the Lord overseas, together with his family, through theological education. Meanwhile, as preparation for this ministry goal, Aidan is a pastor at Windsor District Baptist Church and a PhD candidate researching about shame in the Old Testament through Australian Catholic University.



Leon



Pastor





Leon is a dedicated pastor with a strong academic background, having studied at The University of Sydney and Moore Theological College. From 2018 to 2021, he served as a Student Minister at St Barnabas Broadway, where he was responsible for leading The University of Sydney’s Mandarin Bible Study (MBS), fostering a vibrant community of faith among Mandarin-speaking individuals. Currently, Leon is actively engaged in serving returnees, locals, and university students in East Asia, focusing on nurturing their spiritual growth and providing support in their faith journeys.





Oliver



Pastor





After graduating from Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC), Oliver served as a pastor at Living Spring Christian Church in Chatswood in 2024. Oliver is now preparing for the mission field while undertaking further degree program at SMBC.
